In the current release of Regulations.gov, we've included a preview of summary statistics and a graphic of site content for 2009. This is the first of many forthcoming dashboard and graphic tools intended to make information from Regulations.gov more accessible and useful. So, here’s our plan:
- Include more types of summary data
- Dynamically generate summary data and display in real-time
- Highlight effective dates and impacted industries
- Display geographic areas identified or affected by regulatory actions
There are various challenges to expanding these types of tools particularly in the completeness of the source data, but we think there are benefits.
What other types of summary data would you find useful? Tell us what you think.

Regulations.gov 2010 Dashboard - Update Schedule?
Hi Shanita...
Thank you for keeping the site up to date and for being responsive with moderation. A couple questions for you... do you have a release plan for posting summary statistics for site content for 2010? The 2009 version is very useful and I am wondering if this data will be updated on a monthly, quarterly or yearly basis?
Also, Regulations.gov does a phenomenal job on the federal level... do you know of any similar resources that covers regulatory issues on a more local level? Do you know of any resources that break the regulatory rules for individual Government Agencies?
Keep up the great work on Regulations.gov... US citizens appreciate your work and the work of our government to keep our country safe.

Re: Regulations.gov 2010 Dashboard - Update Schedule?
Hello Ryan,
Thanks for your feedback!
We're planning to update our summary statistics of site content with the next iteration this Spring. We are evaluating feedback from users, like you, to help finalize the types of statistics and method to update them. So, do you suggest monthly, quarterly or yearly? Is it helpful to update statistics weekly?
Also, you mentioned resources covering regulatory issues on a more local level. To my knowledge, there are no comprehensive web sites that cover regional, state and/or local regulations for all U.S. states and territories, as well as their related counties. Each federal government agency that issues regulations may have communications tools/site pages listing their planned and/or current regulatory activities. However, Regulations.gov serves as the one-stop source where public stakeholders can find those activities and submit related comments.
I hope this helps...and please continue to engage in our discussions. -Shanita.Moderator
