In our previous release, we introduced the idea of allowing users to customize Regulations.gov. We thought users should have the ability to:
- Save searches and results sets so that users can search for the same type of information after each log-in
- Track comments previously submitted to determine when they have posted
- Stay informed about specific regulatory information, based on topic, agency and/or docket, as well as Web site updates
- Manage email alerts
- Save user contact information in order to automatically complete data fields when commenting on rules and regulations.
Based on user feedback, we have also determined that users want the ability to:
- Find information and stay informed about initiatives and projects affecting specific industries (e.g., highway projects and food safety)
- Search for initiatives and projects within a specific proximity (e.g., proposed rule affecting a location or area within 10 miles of Washington, DC)
- Engage with other MyRegulations.gov users with system messages and/or forum discussions.
What are your thoughts on the benefits of enabling user profiles on Regulations.gov? Have we excluded anything? Tell us what you think.

Feature request for user profiles
I use regulations.gov as part of my job and am on the site multiple times a day. I look for new postings (all types) and research documents already posted. I follow over 100 specific dockets.
I would like the ability to be able to save these dockets in my profile. It would be helpful if I could put them into categories and "nickname" each docket so I don't have to look up what each docket is.
For example:
A docket for EAS in Plattsburgh NY is DOT-OST-2003-14783.
I would like to set up categories for each state. I would like to be able to put this docket under New York category and then "nickname" it Plattsburgh.
It would also be helpful if I was alerted in my profile if a new document was added to any of my saved dockets.
