Thank you for giving us the opportunity to provide feedback, thoughts and ideas with regard to the development of a Postsecondary Institution Ratings System (PIRS). The California State University (CSU) is a leader in high-quality, accessible, student-focused higher education. With 23 campuses, almost 437,000 students, and 44,000 faculty and staff, we are the largest, the most diverse, and one of the most affordable university systems in the country. We, thus, are encouraged by the Obama administration’s ambitious agenda to expand college opportunity, making higher education more affordable and valuable to its students, and campuses more accountable to student success. We share the President’s commitment to opportunity, providing hundreds of thousands of our students all across the state with a world-class higher education. Our response is developed from experience with the opportunities and challenges inherent in both setting goals across diverse institutions and assessing individual efforts to achieve common objectives.
Within this context, we offer the following response to the specific questions put forth by the Department of Education in its Request for Information, Docket ID ED-2013-IES-0151.
The full response is submitted as uploaded files.
