In a report on the American College of surgeons website, it was pointed out that surgeons should insist on using only powder-free gloves. They should also know the protein content of the surgical and examination gloves being used. Because there is a wide range of inexpensive latex and latex-free surgical gloves without cornstarch powder, it should be mandatory for all surgeons to use powder free surgical gloves to protect the operating room personnel and the patient.
