For residential projects, it is nutty to require a PE to perform an energy audit. Most PEs are not trained to perform residential energy audits. Auditor certifications should reflect what is currently readily available in the marketplace: either RESNET Home Energy Rater or BPI Building Analyst. They are far more qualified to perform residential energy audits with a goal of making improvements than anyone else.
