One of the concerns about the IMBRA has been that the USCIS relies on the U.S.
citizens to voluntarily state their prior history of domestic violence. There are concerns that many U.S. citizen sponsors will lie or not disclose their previous domestic violence history. To overcome this all U.S. sponsors should be subjected to similar FBI and background checks that all applicants for permanent residency and citizenship in the US are subject to. This will ensure that the sponsors complete history of violence is disclosed to their spouses/fiancees. Secondly, a similar pamphlet should be made available to ALL immigrants, including all family, employment and diversity immigrants. Third, the pamphlet should be made immediately available in Urdu, Persian, Turkish and Bengali.
