I encourage the National Park Service to reach collaborative solutions that recognize and respect the various parties who wish to use trails responsibly. This includes mountain bikers, the majority of whom treat other trail users with the same level of courtesy they expect for themselves.
The outstanding efforts of organizations such as SORBA prove that reasonable agreements addressing the needs of multiple users can be reached and honored for the long term. The Sope Creek trails are an essential part of the area's facilities for bikers and I urge you to allow access to these beautiful trails. There is the added benefit of bringing younger people into the parks and teaching them responsibility for trails and the environment in general. I believe we can all agree that this kind of stewardship is critical to the ongoing viability and mission of the National Park System. Thank you for your consideration. Russell Goutierez
