In order to accomodate glider and balloon pilots as young as 14 years of age, The Soaring Society of America recommends that school-issued Photo ID be acceptable per newly approved 61.3(a)(2)(vi). This recommendation includes suggestions that policy guidance (1) be provided Aviation Safety Inspectors and Designated Examiners and (2) memorialized in future revisions to Orders 8700.1 and 8710.3.
